Each item's current value is the latest value recorded for it, for the whole holding.

Every value says:

  • Where it came from — Entered by hand, Market feed, or Appraisal. Reports show this too, so an assessor can tell a market price from an estimate.
  • What it measures — Estimated resale (what it would sell for), Replacement cost, Insured value, or Melt value.
  • When — the date it was true as of. A badge shows how old it is.

Unvalued items

Items without a value are counted on the overview as needing one and listed separately — never treated as zero, which would quietly understate the total.

Market-priced items

Metals and crypto can follow the market: their value is recalculated whenever prices update. See Following the market.

Old values

Prices move; a figure more than a year old is flagged as stale in Catalog health. Set a reminder to revalue: Revaluation reminders.
