On a new computer

  1. Copy the backup folder over, or plug in the drive it is on.
  2. Install Asset Manager and choose Restore from a backup.
  3. Choose folder… — the backup folder, the one containing manifest.json.
  4. Give the passphrase the backup opens with — or choose Use the recovery key instead.
  5. Choose Verify and restore.

On this computer

Settings → Backups → Restore….

The backup is opened and checked — every record and photo — before anything is replaced. If the check fails, nothing changes.

Use the passphrase or recovery key the vault had when the backup was made — not necessarily today's.

A vault already on the computer is set aside as "vault.pre-restore", not deleted.
