Choose Precious metal when adding. The value follows the metal's spot price, so the details that matter most are weight and purity.
- Pick a Product if yours is listed (American Gold Eagle, Silver Maple Leaf, 1 oz bar…). It fills in weight and purity — the figures most often entered wrong.
- Otherwise choose the Metal, then Weight of one item and its unit (troy ounces, grams, kilograms…).
- Say whether that weight is Gross — whole item, alloy included or Fine — metal content only.
- Enter Purity as a fraction: .999, .9167, .900.
- Optionally a Premium over melt — what a dealer pays above metal value. Blank values it at melt.
- Leave Value from the spot price on to have it revalued whenever prices update.
The form shows the fine metal content and its value as you type.
Spot prices come from Markets: type them yourself or connect a free feed. See Metal spot prices and Following the market.
