For a few hundred items, export → edit in a spreadsheet → import beats any form.

  1. Reports → Spreadsheet round trip → Export CSV….
  2. Edit the file in a spreadsheet.
  3. Import CSV… (or Holdings → More actions → Re-import an export…), check the preview, and confirm.

Rules:

  • Each row keeps its asset ID, so importing updates rather than duplicating. Rows without an ID are added as new items.
  • A blank cell leaves the stored value alone; a single dash (-) clears supported fields. Acquisition dates and current values must be edited or voided in the app; their clear markers are rejected in preview.
  • Amounts are in minor units (cents): 1299.50 is written 129950.
  • A changed value becomes a dated valuation; a changed quantity becomes a correction in the history.
  • An old export is refused if the catalog has changed since, so it cannot overwrite newer edits.
